Birds at home
I am very fortunate to live in an amazing valley close to a conservation area, where over 120 bird species have been recorded. I will update this post with new additions as I get them, but here are some that I have managed to get pics of:
Palm nut vulture - not a great pic! but previously only found up the north coast near the Mtunzini area, but a pair have nested in Westville, hence my quite rare sighting!
Grey headed bush shrike (Jan 14) - I hear this guy regularly but haven't managed to get a pic of him before - not great focus but happy to have found him!
Fish eagle fly-by - regular visitor
Upside down white eye
Purple crested turaco - these stunning birds visit my yard on an almost daily basis, but are incredibly hard to photograph, they never sit still!!
Some more images from today - 20 Sept 14
Village Weaver, daily visitor
Cape Canary
Red backed Mannikin

Red billed wood hoopoe & nest
This unusual coloured barbet is nesting at one of my neighbour's house. From what I can see it seems to be a black collared barbet but without the black collar;)
