Birds at home

I am very fortunate to live in an amazing valley close to a conservation area, where over 120 bird species have been recorded. I will update this post with new additions as I get them, but here are some that I have managed to get pics of:

Palm nut vulture – not a great pic! but previously only found up the north coast near the Mtunzini area, but a pair have nested in Westville, hence my quite rare sighting!
Grey headed bush shrike (Jan 14) – I hear this guy regularly but haven’t managed to get a pic of him before – not great focus but happy to have found him!

Purple crested turaco – these stunning birds visit my yard on an almost daily basis, but are incredibly hard to photograph, they never sit still!!

This unusual coloured barbet is nesting at one of my neighbour’s house. From what I can see it seems to be a black collared barbet but without the black collar;)
