Looking back at 2014

Wow, what a year it has been!  I am very grateful to have had the most amazing year and it’s certainly been the year of travel for me. This is my year in photos…

2014 kicked off with a family safari, with our cousins from the USA

I have been on some really fabulous tours this year. I have uploaded lots of pics already throughout the year, but here are just a few more…

My ‘baby’ boy turned 11…the years just seem to fly by:(

He is nearly as tall as me now, not difficult, I know! He continues to love his sport from rugby to swimming, and this year judo too, in which he was awarded his KZN school colours.

An awesome family weekend in the Swartberg

My family totally spoiled me for my 40th birthday with a cruise in Europe, it was an amazing trip to say the least!! I have way too many pics to post them here, but these are a few of my favourites:

I also went with my family on a road trip to Zimbabwe. Although I was born there, I hadn’t visited in about 20 years and had never been to either Matobos or Mana Pools before.

Camping on the Zambezi
This was a really amazing experience and I don’t mind telling you that the first night in my tent (that’s mine on the left) I was truly terrified!! There was a lion roaring, hyenas cackling, hippos grunting, and I didn’t know what was happening when an elephant scraped past my tent in the night, yikes! Once I realised he was just eating the Albida pods around me and wasn’t actually going to knock my bush over then I felt a bit calmer about being so close to these gentle giants;)

The game viewing in Mana is really spectacular

I won the silly competition my sister and I have every year, who spots this bird first – a terrible pic, but evidence nonetheless!!

We also went up to Joburg for the weekend for my son’s judo competition and I was able to do a quick visit to their beautiful Botanic Gardens

I am sad to say that rhino poaching is still a very big problem in South Africa, and we no longer post the location of the photos we take of these magnificent creatures.

I joined Instagram about a year ago but have only been uploading regularly for the last few months…I feel that I’m starting to learn about hashtags at last! I really enjoyed my first Instameet at the harbour for sunrise:

This week we remember Madiba on the anniversary of his death. I loaded two pics and am thrilled that they were both reposted on other Instagram accounts, and the Mandela Monument on Twitter too. Please come find me on Instagram, I’m there as @tezzolds

To those of you who would like to visit this Mandela Monument, it is located in the Midlands and I can either arrange a tour directly there for you, or we could visit it after a half day tour at Tala too.

It is a wonderful time of year to go on safari, I love seeing all the new babies.

I haven’t done as much running this year as last, but I did do the Color Run the other day which was great fun!

Looking back, it’s been quite a year!

Thank you all so much for your support this year. I still maintain that I have the best job in the world, and what a privilege it is to be able to show you around our wonderful province…come & visit!
